It all started with a sprout...

At the heart of our values is family, and striving to create and share delicious, wholesome food that supports our community's well-being and environment. We have always been taught to make good choices, and when it comes to food and drink, nothing is more important to us than being simply good

Since our first loaf of Squirrelly bread in 1989 and the beginning of Silver Hills Bakery as we now know it, our commitment to your health has been our number one priority. Our owners Brad Brousson and Stan and Kathy Smith have devoted our company to making good decisions simple, and empowering, educating and inspiring people with better choices.

Our prerogative  continues, and will always be, to provide convenient, great tasting healthy food that supports people in their goals to achieve and maintain optimum well being through a lifestyle that is good for them and the planet.

It runs in the family...

Our legacy of sprouted baking all started in two small kitchens, pioneered by two incredible women.

The Silver Hills Story

Silver Hills Bakery started with a simple, sprouted loaf made by Grandma June in her humble kitchen in Lumby, BC. From that point on, we started something truly wonderful that expanded across the country. As our small family grew, we planted our roots in Abbotsford, BC in 2000 and have called it home since.

The power of sprouted grew from one simply good loaf of bread. And since then, our intentions have never wavered from providing the best, wholesome and healthy foods we can.

The Sprouted Oven Legacy

Growing up, baking bread was a way of life just as much as it was a means to life. Grandma Smith instilled that value of hard work and tradition into her own five children and her grandchildren continue to carry those same values on now. She was fully committed and passionate about making the life of those around her the best and healthiest that it could be. You were never hungry and everyone was always welcome at her table.

At 75 years old, Grandma Smith took her dedication to doing things well and right and put it forward to the world, opening the first of the bakeries that started it all. With a test kitchen in her garage and her family by her side every step of the way, Grandma Smith’s work spread through Arizona before it came to live here in, Abbotsford in the Sprouted Oven.

That legacy she left resonates today in everything we do. Her memory is in every recipe we have and in each trick that we have for baking the very best, good-for-you treats. Her unrelenting journey to good health and all the values she built for us are the heart of this store as she would have wanted it, you are all welcome at our table.
